RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE INFORMATION
To be introduced in April 2011 to increase overall energy consumption provided by Renewable Energy Sources by 2020. The aim is to take renewable heat provision from its current 1% to 12% of heat provided in homes and buildings.
Technologies Included:
- Air source heat pumps / Ground source heat pumps
- Solar Thermal / Solar hot water
- Renewable combined heat and power
- Biomass Boilers
- Renewable district or community
Tariffs and Payments:
- Equipment installed after 15 July 2009 will be eligible
- Payments ‘deemed’ using Standard Assessment Procedure(SAP) (or similar)
- Return on Investment proposed at 12% across all technologies but 6% for solar hot water/solar thermal
- Payments for installations below 45kW made annually
- Small and Medium Scale Installations - ‘Deemed’ number of kWh – reasonable heat requirement that the installation is intended to serve.
- Large Scale Installations - Metering to be used
